A huge success with nearly 5000 participating in it, finishing on a musical note
The Brahma Kumaris Transport and Travel Wing (TTW) and RTO, Borivali joined National Road Safety Week campaign and organized ‘Fun Run’ Run for Road Safety on Sunday 10th January, 2016 at 6.00 am from St Francis Ground, Borivali. It was a 5 km and 10 km run that started and finished at St Francis Ground, Mt Poinsur, Borivali (W).
The morning chill did not deter 5000 runners from all walks of life - college students, working professionals, housewives and enthusiastic citizens - to join the advocacy run, aiming to create awareness about and promotion of road safely.
Renowned singers Sonu Nigam and Sadhna Sargam, Television artists Jay Bhanushali, Shakti Arora and stand-up comedian Sunil Grover were also present during the event to support the cause and encourage the runners.
The runners were presented medals on finishing the run and were treated to a gala musical program by the Nari Shakti group (an all women troupe)
All the dignitaries present uni-vocally supported the Road Safety awareness efforts, citing need for change in road behaviors like road rage and non-adherence to traffic rules. They congratulated the participants for successfully completing the run and wishing all to drive safely for themselves and for others. Sonu Nigam expressed his sadness to note that people followed traffic rules in other countries, why should it not happen in India also. Singer Sadhna Sargam said that road safety was important for life and asked all to drive safely to live longer. Sunil Grover, of the ‘Gutthi’ fame on Comedy nights with Kapil Show, appreciated the RTO personnel for their diligent efforts all year round
The run demonstrated the power of collaborative efforts, using sports as one of the main tools, to help push advocacy for safe road behavior and safe driving by following simple road safety rules.
The event was live telecasted on Peace of Mind TV Channel.
